One thing important to witches and should be to everyone really, is the use of things to heal within the home in an emergency. Honey is one of nature’s miracles and one of the ingredients in my healing cream, but do we appreciate it as much as we should?
Providing you use natural local honey and not the over-treated supermarket variety, treated to keep its shelf-life but denying it of all it’s medicinal properties (and that includes the likes of expensive Manuka honey too), you have a wonder in your larder.
For those who suffer from hayfever, it is a little miracle. Taking just a spoonful a day from March till September will help your body adapt to pollen, as a daily dose will allow it to be accepted by the body and not fought against, which is what hayfever is all about. The local hayfever sufferers in Fife and even Edinburgh all take the Aberdour honey but you will have to find your local supply if this is a problem to you, as you have to ingest the local pollen for it to be effective.
It is also handy for wounds – traditionally used on battlefields, it is healing and protective, so handy if nothing else to hand!
